The Tenute Del Borgo Vineyards grow nurture a wonderful range wines across two different sites, the first of which concentrates on the wine production and ageing processes. This is situated in Montalto Marche, an area steeped in history where Pope Sisto V and Giuseppe Sacconi, the famous designer of the ‘Alter of the Fatherland’ in Rome, originate from. It is also situated just nine miles from Cupra Marittima, a quaint seaside town on the Adriatic coast, rich in Roman archeological remains, and it is named after the Goddess Cupra, to whom the temple is dedicated.
The second location for the company is based in Cossignano, a beautiful and classic Italian hillside village that lies just ten miles from the main motorway link at Grottamare. There are many signs of a rich, diverse and intriguing history in the area. The Liberty style architecture of Villa Trocchi in Cossignano and the Roman cisterns at Montalto Marche offer just two fantastic examples.
It was the famous Nicola Trocchi who bought the villa in 1863. It was originally used as a hunting location and included the small concecrated church of Saint Luigi. Some years later, he built the elegant villa along with outbuildings to store grain and to stable horses.
